HISTORY
The brainchild of establishing a
magnificent institution to be set up in his place of action, Kanchausi
Bazar/Madhvapur, had already started unfolding in the heart of Shri
Darshan Singh during his early years of life by the sweet inspiration of
enlightening Maa Saraswati. As a result of this, his well-wishers and
sons in order to materialise his brainchild of setting a college,
established “Akhil Bhartiya Darshan Singh Prasaar Samiti” on 23rd
February 1999 and got it registered under the University Grant
Commission.
Shri Darshan Singh, a resident
of Madhvapur, was an invaluable heritage of his father Pratap Singh who
was a simple farmer. Shri Darshan Singh, born in such a simple farmer’s
family on one of the auspicious day in December 1924, kept on getting
education related inspiration through his mother Shrimati Ranjit Kunwar
who was a Vaishnav laureate and highly spiritual in nature. His wife and
life partner, Shrimati Kanak Rani, dutifully kept on inspiring him for
the establishment of the educational institution he had in mind. The
strong support of his able sons Shri Devendra Singh “Bhole”
(ex-minister), Gajendra Singh, Rajendra Singh and Jeetendra Singh also
inspired him to establish a college.
Shri Darshan Singh remained a
supporter of the Gandhiwadi thinking: “Simple Living, High Thinking.” He
was a hardworking man, whose personality was enriched with
trustworthiness, social-service, had excellent knowledge of agriculture
and a friendly nature towards all. Suddenly and unfortunately, this
great man passed away on 20th March 2003 with the wish of the
college in his heart.
Akhil Bhartiya Darshan Singh
Samiti after duly deciding the responsibility and doing “Bhumi Pujan” on
14th May 2003 made Darshan Singh Smriti College; Kanchausi
Bazaar related to Kanpur Dehaat, a medium for imparting high education
to the children of the poor settled in the rural areas. On 3rd
of September, after getting the affiliation for B.A Arts section from
Kanpur University, 182 girls and boys in a short span of time took
registered admissions and confirmed their participation. This number
increased to 483 in the year 2004-2005 and again increased to the number
924 in the 2005-2006 and this number was 1502 in the year 2006-2007. The
number was 2000 in the year 2007-2008 and in the year 2009-2010 it was
above 2500.
At present, the affiliation of
the faculties of B.A, B.Sc., B.Ed. and admissions are the symbols of
this college’s progress. The credit of this progress goes to our dear,
hard-working, high education harbinger, head administrator, respectable
Shri Devendra Singh “Bhole” (ex-minister), manager Rajendra Singh “Raju”
and the managing committee. This educational institution is an
invaluable heritage of this area. It is the responsibility of the
studying boys and girls to protect it and keep it safe.
